This March, I’m heading to the Wine Sisterhood Gathering in Napa. The event is organized by one of my digital marketing clients – the Wine Sisterhood – with a goal to educate, empower and inspire women through their community, content and other digital initiatives.

The Gathering blends a wine and food tasting experience throughout the Napa Valley with workshops about digital, social and mobile media. I’ll be teaching a workshop about using mobile apps for community building and marketing and Danielle Smith will be leading a session on digital video and media training. Not to mention a wine and cheese tasting workshop and other tasty – I mean educational – learning opportunities.

Here are 6 reasons why I love the Wine Sisterhood Gathering and am so excited to be there again this year. Read more

I’ve started recording videos for the Wine Sisterhood to talk about one interesting, fun or useful mobile app in each Digital Minute episode.

These videos are part of a new direction for me for 2013 which includes more video, more webinars and more online courses.

Stay tuned for information about my upcoming courses.

I’ll also be filling you in very soon about some of my new work as a spokesperson for a handful of apps and products that I actually use and love.

Here’s my recent Wine Sisterhood Digital Minute about the mobile app Over.

You can read a little bit more about Over and their new app Overgram on the Wine Sisterhood website.

Got a favorite mobile app? Let me know so I can try it out and consider it for the Wine Sisterhood Digital Minute!

As marketers scramble to figure out Pinterest for their clients and to add another service to their roster (Pinterest board strategy and creation), the buzz has been that Pinterest is a great way to reach women online. Well, yes and no. Women do make up a majority share of the Pinterest population. But as with any online site, network or forum, it really depends on who you are, who you’re trying to reach, and what you’re trying to get them to do.

Just because there are women on Pinterest doesn’t mean it is the right tool to use to reach them.

Another misnomer about Pinterest is that it is nothing but crafts and doilies and other fancy stuff, all feminine and pretty with a parade of Martha Stewart wannabes pinning away.

Our first client app is here!

We did it. I still can’t believe it, but it’s real. Our first client app is in the iTunes App Store for our client Canopy Management, the brilliant company behind the Wine Sisterhood, a digital community promoting wine conversations among women. I love their philosophy, their products, and the women behind the company. And of course, I love wine!

What I learned from this app project is that it is always better when you work with great people and always helpful when you’re familiar with one another’s working style. The development process went smoothly because we knew what we were all trying to achieve. A clear vision is always key to any project. Staying on track is also important, and while we could have added a lot of bells and whistles to this app, we wanted to focus on the core functionality to start. There will be plenty of other opportunities to expand on this and other apps for women – and not just apps about wine. Read more
